Exclamation Comments from friends who played free.

I had a good half a dozen friends play the game through the free account this weekend and here is the issues they had.

#1. No skills. With no skills.... there was noting to do but use templates. They would have prefered 6-12 skills being unlocked from the get go for each profession so they could try their own builds vs rely on ANs templates.... which arent very good anyway. Infact, a free 2000faction would have made things alot easier. One friend in particular couldnt get any wins for 2 days till he managed to get 1000faction, he purchased one skill and then it was 5 wins in a row each time.

#2. Lack of information. When they started in the PvP learning zone, it told them the raw raw basics of tactics and what not, but it was missing the things theyw anted to know, such as:

* What are the professions and their advantages and disadvantages.
* How do I buy skills
* Basic information on countering conditions, hexes, melee, ranged and elemental dmg
* What are runes
* How do I progress and unlock more PvP content than the Zaishen challenge.
* How do I commuinicate with friends.
* How do I join a guild.
* And biggest of all, can I see others play

#3. Where are all the maps? Most said they were surprised C2 had so little content. As we know there was no C2 content there anyway, but it would have been nice for AN to tell people that.

#4. Why cant I change my character without re making it. Huge gripe Ive seen from my friends and other new users. They were not told they had to destroy their old character and make a new one to change small things. An issue all users dont like but one AN still has to fix.

#5. Why are there so many bugs for a game due soon? Okay, it was obvious there were to be bugs for us C1ers as we know the weekend was for beta and balance testing, but the people who played free didnt. Honestly, it was an easy fix. If the event lasted 1 day longer, but restriced access to just C1 players the first day, then the balance issues, exploits and farming builds would be minimised for when the free guys joined.

#6. When does the event start and finish. Time zones, day light saving, eastern time, western.... okay.... this can be annoying, but once again a simple solution. Why not out a countdown clock in the client which counts down in d:h:m till the event, and then again till the events close. This could all be done on the login screen.

#7. Why do I die so fast. hehe I know I know.... they're n00bs. But honestly people were farming faction with the new guys using SS/Empathy etc. Solution, next event... make sure in the training that possible expliotable skills are explained in the tutorial to allow players a heads up.

#8. omg, getting into groups is just as bad as wow. Okay, so GW doesnt have a group finding system, which of course is completely nuts, and a snap for devs of their quality to add. While its trying on the C1ers, it was murder on the free players. Its no wonder so many of them played in the random arena. A simple system where players can click "Looking for party" or "looking for members" and get the option to search for profession types and a basic word search would help things bigtime.

Oh well, thats the major stuff, rest was little things everyones knows. Most really enjoyed the event after they unlocked 1-2 skills, was a little hard for them before hand. Hope this helps the devs improve the next free event.

I think they should have given them 10k faction to start with. That will get you 1 elite and 7 skills. That way you could build your own bar.

The old templates are horrible besides boon monk. All of the new templates except the r/a are horrible as well.

Although this comes from someone playing CHP1, I think it may also apply to some of the newbies: no real PvE content.

I like the 2 new professions, but would have liked to see them try their stuff in a couple of new areas besides the Tombs change (which I discovered very late, thinking it was more PvP), or at least some old areas.

PvP + old hands + opponents with the reflexes of 16-year-olds = "poop!"

How's that slow-mo arena coming along?

edit: new skill: "Preturbed Was Sistermercy"

I'm glad there's a constructive way this thread is made. But also for us CH1'ers, keep in mind there will probably be other preview weekends where we'll get a glimpse into the PvE.

After all, I can't even count how many times the WBE's "changed" month to month. I remember when Gates of Kryta was the new player spawning area, lol.

I am hating going back to work tomorrow morning and actualy facing my co-workers after the verbal insults "in game" by them, due to the major suckage that was so called "Factions Beta".

Rome wasn't built in a day you know. The first time I played guild wars was years ago. The only way that I learned was through experience. This will not be the only event. There will be more until the release of chapter 2 due to testing.

*offtopic*
BTW I love Spiteful spirit + Empathy on the Assassins. It was funny as hell. But I forgot that most assassin players are newcomers who don't know any better than to stop attacking. Oh well.
/*offtopic*

BTW none of your problem are original. They have been addressed before.

another thing was allowing people with accounts with thousands of faction already to play. Instead of having people whine about having to delete a charachter or something, just have all pvp this weekend be on the free accounts
--yes im sure this has been mentioned before, but dont give me that "search button" crap
